ifilm actress Malakeh Ranjbar passes away on Thursday.

Veteran ifilm actress Malakeh Ranjbar has passed away at the age of 81 in hospital on Thursday.

The actress had appeared in several ifilm series and movies, including ‘The Chef’, ‘Son of Adam, Daughter of Eve’, ‘The Sting and the Bee’, ‘Barani’, and ‘Left-Handed’.

Ranjbar was suffering from several diseases of old age, including depression and Parkinson's disease.

Born in Rasht in 1938, she began her career as an actress in theater plays in her hometown when she was only six.

Among her most notable roles were in the comedy series ‘Under City Sky’ directed by Mehran Ghafourian and the social drama ‘Story of a City’ by Asghar Farhadi.

She played in more than 50 movies and TV series, including ‘The Sinners’ by Faramarz Qaribian, ‘Bread, Love, and Motorcycle 1000’ by Abolhassan Davoudi, ‘Marriage Agency’ by Mohammad Dormanesh, and ‘Lucky the Little One’ by Babak Nouri.

Her funeral was held in Tehran’s Behesht Zahra cemetery on Friday, but there will not be any memorial services due to the coronavirus outbreak.
